Joseph E. Resende
President
Joseph is a founding principal of the Franklin Capital Group of companies. Prior to forming Franklin Capital in 1995, he practiced law for 20 years in the Washington, D.C. area and focused his practice in the areas of real estate and corporate transactions, investments and finance. He is a 1973 graduate of Villanova University with a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Political Science and recieved a Juris Doctorate degree in 1976 from Georgetown University. Joe is active in several trade associations and civic groups, including positions as a Director of the National Multi-Housing Council, a Director of the Alexandria Housing Development Corporation, a member of the National Rehabilitation and Housing Association and a member of Urban Land Institute. Joe was born (1951) and raised in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. He has lived in the Washington, D.C. area since 1973 and currently resides in the Old Town Alexandria, Virginia area.
John M. Nelson, IV
Principal
John is a founding principal of the Franklin Capital Group of companies. Prior to forming Franklin Capital in 1995, he was Executive Vice President of Sumner Development Company, a real estate company, and President of an affiliate, Mount Vernon Financial Corporation, where he arranged debt and equity financing and participated in project acquisition and development. Prior to that, he was Managing Director of First Winthrop Corporation and subsequently Chief Executive Officer of Winthrop Financial Associates, both Boston based real estate investment companies. As one of the three founders of Winthrop, he supervised the acquisition of over $5.5 billion of property (including 40,000 rental apartment units). He is a graduate of Yale University and he holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School. Jerry was born (1945) and raised in the Baltimore, Maryland area. He currently resides in the Boston, Massachusetts area.
